Always liked the phrase from one of Claptons songs "Its in the way that you use it". Though Im not sure the exact context its used in that song it ironically applies to music as well as everything else. Coming from Clapton its even more precious as he was not Mr Technical but played all the right notes
Yah, somewhat what i mean... do not have to be technical to be a good guitarist... i put Pete Townsend and Andy Summers in this category as well along with The Edge...
 
Pete never did much for me and the Who only has a handful of songs I like so that blows the song writing part for him too, considering the lenght of his career. Summers was the Police right ? They were OK at the time but I was more into what The Cars were doing. I suppose I'd pick the cars of the four bands, Who, U2, Police, Cars, if I was going to buy an album. I guess they all have a handful of memorable songs though.
