UFC fighter destroys girl-puncher here in Austin

This only makes it more evident that this world hasnt got much going for it right now.

Right, nothing like people using their abilities to help others in need... that never happens.

Look, not wanting to go to downtown Austin is entirely understandable, but even if we were completely and totally screwed to a degree beyond what was imaginable 10, 20, or 30 years ago (hint: we aren't!) sitting around and complaining about it wouldn't get too far - especially if you weren't going out by day and trying to make things better. This kind of nonsense is great if you're convinced that the world really needs more blathering whinecore but awful for just about any other motives that I can think of.

good for Huerta, however, he could really be screwed for this. professionally trained fighters (MMA, boxers, special forces, etc) have special laws that deal with assault that could make this VERY ugly for him legally.

haha all I can think of when I read this is Con Air:popcorn:

sorry, i dont know the specific statutes, but this could easily be escalated from a simple assault (misdemeanor) to a felony (aggravated assault or assault with a deadly weapon) depending on whether or not the DA wants to be an ass or not. the law varies from state to state, so i dont what texas law says. but i believe he has an excellent chance with the "coming to the aid of others" defense. especially because of the incredibly violent act that was recorded before he did anything. Huerta could argue that he believed the man was threatening a life, in which case even civilians can use deadly force. i just hope his career/fame doesnt work against him here.

yep...if you are a pro fighter then your fighting skills count as a weapon! So i heard...

its very odd from what i can tell i know you used to register legally when you become a blackbelt, good for huerta though hate assholes who hit women

i keep coming back here hoping that someone will find a better vid of the incident, all i can find is the really bad TMZ one. but some of you sarcastic fucks think seem to think i'm buying the whole Con Air thing. read my original post, i may have misspoke with "special laws", i meant that the law could be applied to him different because of his status. thats what i get for multitasking. my main point was that it could be "VERY ugly for him legally."

this is California Law:

http://www.justia.com/criminal/docs/calcrim/800/875.html

875. Assault With Deadly Weapon or Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury

<Alternative 1B—force without weapon>
[1A. The defendant did an act that by its nature would directly and probably result in the application of force to a person, and

1B. The force used was likely to produce great bodily injury;]

I admit, I dont know if TX defines it the same. But all it takes is an asshole DA who wants to make a name on a famous guys case. Cases have been won in the past with only hands and feet being used, and spent years in appeals only to be overturned by the Supreme Court. But who the fuck wants to deal with that? If Huerta was an average joe, he'd get a misdemeanor if anything most likely. Thats why I said his career and fame can hurt him.

Speaking of nonsense. Who else do you have to prove yourself to today? Buddy, I'll do what I please and if thats not going to a stupid bar on a street somewhere, that's my fucking choice. What an ass you are.

This has nothing to do with proving anything - I even said right away that I understand not wanting to go to areas like that... or anywhere at all. You've completely missed the point - this isn't about forcing random strangers to hang around at questionable bars, it's about pointless, misguided complaining in the face of events that directly contradict this we're-all-doomed attitude.

Have you ever had a logical conversation with anyone that didnt end in you trying to explain how they missed the point? I dont need your point, your opinion, or anything. I spoke my fucking mind and that's the way it is. if you dont like it, get off my lawn.

Yes, and they tend to start with people not missing the point. I'm not sure how you read my post as 'You should go to a stupid bar on a street!' but that's not at all what I wrote.

I also spoke my mind - and I didn't have to get on your lawn to do it. What the hell are you even arguing?

Jeff

If you're going to make such a point of not reading my posts, I'll have no choice but to take it as a challenge - and you should definitely get that cyst checked out, they really shouldn't tie themselves into bows like that.
