What are some bands you know about that you rarely, if ever, see anyone else mention?
For me:
Beanflipper - Garden Variety Manic Depressant
http://www.myspace.com/beanflipper
Good stuff. Some kind of death metal/grind/punkish/ecclectic thing.
Psychic Pawn - Decadent Delerium
http://www.myspace.com/psychicpawntribute
This is some brutal death metal from somewhere in Arizona.
Coma Void - Stormking Twilight
http://www.myspace.com/comavoidband
They put out a demo under the name Merde. Horrible production, but amazing music somewhere between Atheist and Led Zeppelin. Maybe like Cynic or Atheist, but with a blues base instead of a jazz base.
Discarnated - Deus Misereatur
Rowan London's pre-Virgin Black death metal band. Bad production, amazing tunes.
In Vain - Wounds EP
http://www.myspace.com/invainno
This is their second EP and is an absolutely amazing and ecclectic mix based in death metal. I hear they just put out a full length.
Cadaverous Quartet - The Extinction Agenda
Death metal. I have the CD but hardly remember anything about it.
Purgation - Realm of the Dead EP
http://www.myspace.com/purgation
Amazing classic doom with maybe a stoner edge.
Savage Steel - Do or Die
Cool but cheap sounding thrash/speed with lame but cool vocals.
Yeti - Self Titled
http://www.myspace.com/theyeti
Great somewhat unconventional doom/death.
Of these my highest recommendation would probably go to In Vain.
