2007 Recordings.
Last year was a cool miscellaneous mixture of studio sessions. First part of the year was recording the bass for Roger Staffelbach’s Angel Of Eden...Roger is the guitarist of Artension, and his first solo album is in the same kind of classic shred metal, but with more instrumental sections and raging solos. I think most of it was recorded in Switzerland and Germany, but I did the bass tracks here at my buddy Juan’s place, Trident Studios. It came out some time in the middle of the year and brought on some great reviews.
Then I did the bass line on a one song guest spot on a trippy Death-rap album by a hardcore New Yorker who goes by the name of Necro. There were a lot of guests on this album, so I imagine it was recorded in many places. But once again I put it down at Trident with Juan. I had heard that Necro was on the Sounds Of The Underground tour last year promoting the new album.
So then I went from working with classic metal; to rap metal...to......
...a little trip to Milan Italy. And a venture to learn some crazy technical death metal, epic style...! Aleister picked me up at Malpenza and we went straight to his house and started in on the learning of the Faust songs. I only had a few days to let it all soak in before we were scheduled to go into the studio to lay it all down. It was a great time actually, and the pressure I put on myself to learn it all was lessened when Ale got me set straight with his tech-basement setup. Long hours of jamming, story exchanging and gorgonzola - we eventually found our way up to the border (of Italy and Switzerland) town of Como. There it was into Alpha-Omega studio of Alex the wise. It was so cold your eyes would freeze looking out at the awesome view of the lake and hills. But the three of us crammed into the small studio with a little portable heater and got my bass finished. This is some crazy fast shit as I said before, and the drums were played by the basher of Vader, Luca is the other guitarist and Aleister is the main guitarist and vocalist as well as the composer. I think Faust has released a demo or two and some kind of EP, but this album we made is basically the first real full length release for the Italian psycho riff masters. It will come out towards the middle of this year and info can be found on www.deathmetal.it and www.myspace.com/faustband2. Here’s a last-night-in-the-studio party shot of us... great guys, great times and definitely a great album to be. Check it!

True, true - I kinda just thought it needed to be mentioned anyway, I listen to that album way too much to be healthy! One of the best releases in 2007 PERIOD. I'm currently writing a review to upload on metal-archives.com...
