So, I ended up doing a project yesterday and used my new laptop loaded with Windows Vista.
I downloaded the XP driver from Prsonus and installed that to see if by some chance it worked...
IT DID!
So, far, this project has about 24 tracks, all with at least a couple plugs and I ran around 4 in a mastering chain on the master buss...So far, 0 problems.
I have had no latency issues to speak of yet. Once I really get into editing and setting up the plug ins and stuff that could change of course.
With my dual core processor and 2GB of RAM, I was rendering rough mixes of 5 minutes songs in less than a minute, about 1/2-1/3 the time of my current pentium 4 1GB RAM DAW.
I can say so far I'm extremely pleased. And, I have yet to see 750MB CPU usage in an idle state. I tend to hover around 500-533MB.
