I think I'm just done with the sub-genre for a while. I don't truly think those bands are at melo-death level quite yet, just because there is so much depth to it. So it might just be me needing a break. One Inch Man said:I still listen to that Solefald and Arcturus, both are some pretty tasty shit. If the new Woods of Ypres is on the same level as those two, I need to get it.

Hahahaha you totally failed at not being a downer since I love love love Agalloch and Ulver and only love/like Arcturus and Solefald.Demilich said:Don't expect anything really similar to Arcturus or Solefald.. more like Agalloch/Opeth/Ulver. Blah.
It's like 3am for you right now isn't it?Erik said:Thats why i find it so amusing that the latter day saints of our business:
1) attributed to me motives that just werent there, and
2) accused me of corrupting morality... which... I wish I had the power to do.
Prepare to die.

I like "The Sea of Immeasurable Loss."Demilich said:Now that this thread has been suitably jacked and turned into a WoY thread (at least temporarily), I must reinforce my opinion that Shedding the Deadwood is the best and most memorable track off the album for me. The metal ones have some weird and not good riffs, particularly the more melodic ones. Something very bland about them, but Shedding... has a lot of emotion and very nice lyrics. Lyrics are one thing I still like quite a lot about this album.

Really? I always thought "Awaiting..." was a tad weaker than the rest, still good tho.Demilich said:If we're gonna talk about Against the Seasons, they're all good, but Sea of Immeasurable Loss and Awaiting the Inevitable are the biggest winners. I guess the new one was pretty much an expansion of A Meeting Place And Time taken to the extreme (in the non-extreme way, if you take my meaning).
How was the new WoY received elsewhere? Other zines and so forth? I've asked David a couple of times to come here and voice his opinions, particulary in the thread containing Erik's review, but he hasn't done so yet.Demilich said:Dave's got demos down for the new one and he says I (and I take it.. WE)should like it more than Purusit...!
