Urban Breed New singer for Pyramaze!!!

The thing is that Bone Carver was an awesome disc with Lance King on vocals. The music was extremely melodic and King is also a melodic singer.

Breed is a good power metal singer but I'm not sure this will work. When something ain't broken, don't fix it.

I'll see but I'm not gonna join the unanimous round of "kick ass", "awesome" and "great news".

Have you heard Immortal?

Yes I have and while I think it's a solid disc, it doesn't hit me like Bone Carver did when it came out.

I'll admit that I haven't fully digested it though. I'll give it more time but so far, I miss Lance King's vocals.

First off, congrats to Urban!

Second, I think this pairing should work rather well. He's got enough of a melodic tone to satisfy the Lance King fans and enough grit to satiate the Barlow fans. Anybody who knows me knows that I'm not exactly a Barlow fanboy (he's a good vocalist, but I don't think he deserves all the accolades bestowed upon him), so this is a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Stay metal. Never rust.

Way to go Michael- another great pick! Let's just hope this isn't a trend though- a new singer for every CD! JK ... Shaye, I second you on the hope there are some "home" shows...

Here's my short review of the new disc since I needed to give it some time.

I'm about 5 spins in and it's a solid CD. I'll go with Rycher on the PM Board in saying that Barlow fits the music best when he's in the emulating Paul Stanley mode.

When he goes in the rougher delivery, I don't think it does the music justice though. I can't help thinking how better it would be with King during these moments.

The music is still there as it's filled with great melodic lines, there's plenty of crunch although it feels like the keys are less prominent.

I'll say as much as I expect this disc to keep growing and probably make my top 10 by the end of the year.

All in all, I think it's definitely worth getting but it's not Bone carver. I kind of miss King even if Barlow does a good job. I'm afraid of Breed's approach on the next one though. I guess we'll see...

Cheers!

Steve
