I am sick of this :

Google gives me :

399 U.S. dollars =
291.028446 Euros

= 37% increase

Is this because of some tax, or is this a pure rip off ? I can understand customs and intermediate dealers for US guitars imported in EU, or equivalents, but digital download ? Can someone enlighten me and educate me or can I go on feeling raped every single time ?

Is it the same for digital downloads for AUS and CAN people ?

So am I right to think companies who do not convert prices to a reasonable other currency value are juste trying to profit from the complacency of the customer ?

Sugar Bytes do this as well. I remember going through their T&C and not finding any explanation for the price difference, so decided not to go for it because it felt wrong to pay so much more just because I don't live in the US. Not to mention Sugar Bytes is actually based within EU and not US at all!

Can you do currency exchanges on PayPal? I would just buy some dollars somehow. Arbitrage, bitches.

This.

It's obviously frustrating for EU users since the currency is indeed worth more. Therefore, as Jim mentioned, take advantage of the US price by converting your 290 or so euros to USD!

Even if PayPal charges you a higher conversion rate for buying in USD and you end up paying 300 euros, it is still a 33% savings.

I believe some companies adjust their prices based on cost of living to the countries that they are selling to. They know that people in "richer" countries will pay more or are willing to pay more if they have to, so they bump up the price.

The only thing you would have to do is give a US address when purchasing and purchase with US dollars (just transfer it over through paypal) and you get the US price. With Corvus Audio sales, I always charge by US dollar, let paypal take care of the difference, International buyers do pay more, but they are just paying the extra in shipping. If and when I get to software, there will be no difference. That practice to me is just dirty.
