Using a Presonus AudioBox on Reaper?(n00b content)

For whatever reason, when I use my Line 6 devices I keep getting this loud static sound that noise gates can't cut.

Needless to say, I can not record w/ any of my L6 gear anymore. As this is the case, I dug out an old PreSonus AudioBox I had lying around. Problem is the signal is being picked up on Reaper. I've updated the drivers, and I'm getting a clear and audible sound through my headphones, so I'm a little perplexed as to why the signal isn't making it through. I tried this on Reaper,

Options>Preferences>Audio>Device>AudioBox USB Asio Driver

Anyone have an idea where I screwing up?

just have to ask the most obvious ones:

- do you have your speakers on and connected to the outputs and the main output volume open? if yes, what kind of cables do you use and are they balanced or unbalanced
- is the audiobox set as default sound device in the windows control panel? if it is, try to change it to something else, like the integrated soundcard

Not using any cables. Just running everything on a laptop.

No, the AudioBox wasn't set as the default sound device.

o_0 should work fine, with proper drivers. maybe since you hadn't used it in a while there's something physically wrong wtih it

I bought it new and just never used it. I can hear the clean signal fine though through headphones.

Here's what's up w/ my gear atm,

1) GuitarPort: Strong, recordable signal. VSTs no problem.

2) UX1 Studio: Strong signal through headphones. Loads VSTs, but the can get it to send a recordable signal out

3) PreSonus AudioBox: Can hear a strong, clean clean signal. Can't load VSTs, nor get an out signal

I'm really beginning to think my laptop is FUBAR'd. Whenever I plug any L6 device in, I get this strong static sound. You know, that sound you get when you plug a guitar in. I tried using noise gates, L6's and the VST one that came w/ Reaper, but they don't help.

I've tried using different guitars, guitar cables, USB ports, USB cables, turning off all electrical appliances, trying different rooms....

Make sure Reaper's audio settings are setup to output to the headphone out of the Audiobox. Put the VSTs as an insert on the track you're recording and turn monitoring on.
