Using the glue tool in Logic 8

I've been using the strip silence function in logic to take the bleed out of toms to make sample replacing easier, but when i go to use the glue tool to put them back together, it restores the original track. I'm not sure how to fix this I've looked up a few tutorials and I'm getting frustrated.

what ive always done is select all regions for that track after stripping the silence. convert all regions to new audio files under the audio tab.
now glue them.

then of coarse consolidate your audio in the audio bin to keep things under control.
