Having heard good arguments for and against the POD Vs2 and the XT. The V Amp Pro had been thrown into the mix. I know the universal opinion will be it's a unit to stay away from, but I have heard some good clips from it. I also have been listening to alot of XT clips which range from the usual XT plastic sound to the downright awesome.

Basically I am looking for a unit that I can plug in and get good tones without too much fussing. I'll be plugging it into a Makie 32:4 and then into a MAC running logic. Tones I'm looking for are fairly dark (Black/Death Metal ala Bolt Thrower/Entombed/Dimmu Borgir/Cradle/Napalm Death)

Any further guidance on these two units, or other Direct Recording equipment will be greatly appreciated, as there is no way I can fit my 5150 and Mode 4 cab in my studio.

Cheers.

If you're just looking for a good usable sound with absolutely minimal tweaking, go for it. I love my V-Amp! Here's a total garbage rough track I put together the other day out of a scratch drum session me and a few buddies did, guitars in the overheads all over the place and everything  but I overdubbed with the V-Amp so you can check out how it sounds, zero post processing, EQ compression, etc. Just raw tracks...
