Vamp resonances and resonances in general.

okay, i was pretty damn amazed (i'm sorry if i come over stupid..) when i heard that my V amp was FULL of fucked up resonances... i made an example of were the first riff (untight i know... i recorded on an old computer with bags of latency, i had to drag it in to tightness) is with the resonances EQed out with tight EQ notches (i said that right?) and the second is without the EQing out the resonances...

and while i'm at it... if this is a direct tone (which should be a bit sterile and lacking ugly resonances like this..) then how fucking bad is a miced up cab gonna be and how do you guys go with resonances while mixing?

some band put an old demo i made for them online... anyone got something to say about it (it sucks though, i had like 3/4 hours editing and mixing and not alot of experience.) guitar is V Amp i'm afraid..

It's not that you're stupid or anything, but in my opinion you may have answered your own question already - if you have resonances, EQ them out. That's what I'd do... I'm not aware of any other approach...

oh, and some mids in your sound would do wonders IMO too scooped - for my taste at least.

strange... i actualy had the mid almost all the way up on the vamp.. (on the thing were i was comparing them btw.., not the song.. i forgot how the v amp was set thern..)

Hmm, I was mainly talking about the first clip (the EQd one). The second one does have enough mids. Appears to me you EQd them out or something...? or perhaps I'm just deaf from all the beer I had today
