yeah, even so man, you still have to turn them for each patch (on pre-LCD pods... I haven't used an XT). On the V-amp, it automatically jumps to what you want so if you're playing live you can switch and have your EP's different.

oh i think i get what yrou saying. . .the knobs go alllllllll the way arround, and dont stop at "max" and "min" right? so the LED's just jump to the setting for that patch.

The Pod's patches stay at the EQ settings that they're saved at until you save them to a patch. Just because you can't see a physical change in the knobs when you switch patches on the Pod does not mean that the sounds haven't changed settings. If you switch patches while you're playing, the settings on each patch will switch to what you've already saved.
Believe me, I own both the V-amp AND the Pod. I know the capabilities of both.
