Anyone here like these guys ? VP was touted as a Dream Theater rip-off, and though it is easy to see a DT influence, this German band has put together a CD collection (especially their last three studio releases) that is nothing short of outstanding. If you like progressive melodic metal, I think these guys are the best there is. There are also free downloads of their stuff from www.farofoograce.com There is also a nice message board for fans as well as curious metal fans, as well. in fact, the memebers of the band pop in there from time to time. All of them have posted at one time or another and answered questions from fans.

Vanden plas is a great band. I dont think they are a DT rip off. Have their "Far off grace" cd. Heard the new cd is going to be real good. Cant wait to hear it.

"Far Off Grace" was a nice record... but I feel the newest album to be quite boring.


And I fail to see what is "progressive" about Vanden Plas. They are like the AC/DC of prog.

Vanden Plas claims that their goal is to write and perform expressive music with emotional depth and a melancholy prog metal corset. I think they have succeeded in doing that. Vanden Plas is certainly not for everyone, especially fans of the more over-the-top style prog, but I certainly don't think they are boring.
