I'm not sure to what extent these re-recordings are an insult to fans of the original versions. along the lines of "hey suckers, you've been worshipping something that was not intended to be, how's that for your taste in music?"

being a musician myself i understand what's going on in the artists' minds when they decide to do things like this, it's very easy to be embarassed and unsatisfied with your own work. i pretty much hate everything i've ever made as soon as it's recorded.

BUT at the same time they should have enough insight to doubt their own judgement, to realize that every single time this has been attempted, it has ended badly
