I know all shows will be different, but I have a few questions for people who go to more shows than I do (which is most of you, really)

1. If I bring my camera will it be confiscated? It's kinda expensive and I don't want to risk it. I might not be driving so I wouldn't have a car to leave it in or anything.

2. Is it within the realm of possibility to meet Opeth this tour? Or have they resorted to hiding from obsessed fans?

3. Should I get my shirt or flag signed if I do meet them?

4. How early to show up?

5. How late to stay (an issue if my poor ass has to bus back home!)

6. Who'm I gonna meet from the board? ;)

The signing is a must. :D I'm hoping to get Morningrise signed by all... which I've just realised is strange seeing as the Martins weren't involved in the making of Morningirse. Hmm...

i'll be at the T.O show aswell, i'm going to wear my morningrise t-shirt, i don't look at metal at all, i have short, i put on whatever's on the floor,

Observations based on experience but with no guarantee of accuracy:

Show up early if you care about any of the opening bands because they take forever to let people inside the Opera House.

They won't let you take in your camera without a press pass, but they'd just take it away from you, put it in coat check and make you pick it up at the end (though if it's expensive you might not want to risk having it sit around like that).

Band members often walk around after their sets at the Opera House, or hang around the merch table for signings. If not you can line up (in the cold) outside the tour bus to try to meet them. (but I really have no idea how much Opeth will be interacting with their fans)

You're probably going to need to stay till at least 1am that time is pretty variable.

I will most definitely be wandering around with my companions on the upper two levels of the main floor, so if for some strange reason anyone recognizes me and has an urge to say hi - do!

Hope that helps. :)

Nice! Thanks everyone! I'll probably be wearing a Blackwater Park shirt, and maybe an Opeth flag.. Don't look so metal anymore either though..

If I don't meet Opeth I'll be sorely disappointed, but I'm sure everyone here is saying that and we can't all take their time.

Maybe I'll call in sick and hit another show..

thanks (and sorry for posting this in the wrong section of the forum.. so stupid.)

This tour could be very different, since they have so many more fans now, but they were very approachable on their last North American tour. I saw them at a pretty small club, and they were just sitting behind a curtain that constituted "backstage," watching the rest of the show. I got restless and finally just snuck back there. :heh: Unfortunately, Mikael had gone to the bus I guess. I was worried I'd be bothering them, but they were so nice. I asked Peter if I could take a picture with him, and he gave me a big smile and rounded up the other guys, who were also smiling! (Of course they're not smiling in the picture, because that wouldn't be very metal, lol.) Talking to fans must get tiring, but they didn't treat me that way at all. \m/

Hey Duvall,

count on at least one newfie being there! Maybe 2 if Tjill is around, hehe.

Here's something about the opera house: you will be searched, so don't have anything illicit on you.

If you go really early, I think you will be pretty much assured of getting a chance to meet the guys, they are friendly and they seem to genuinely like meeting with the fans.

Where did you get the flag dude???

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for you in the BWP shirt. I'll be the brit-rocker looking guy with the very petite red head girl in a tight black dress.

It's going to be great, if they put on a good show it will literally blow your mind. Not every show can be great, but I'm hoping this one is.

I'll be there - no idea what i'm wearing, but just look for me, k? That's for all of you!

Satori, i'm not looking for you - last time i did, i ended up walking up to some stranger who matched your description, standing next to a petite red head, and asked him if he was satori, and he looked at me like i was on crack. so YOU have to say hi to ME!

Ok, how's this: I'll wear a shirt that I think should be a little unique, it's a funky short sleve button-up shirt with a collar, and the shirt is checkered with small black and grey checkers. So look for the brit rocker type in that checkered shirt with a petite red head girl in the tight black dress and "fuck-me boots". We'll also be with 2 other guys, who are much bigger and taller than I am, and they are older too, in their late 30's.

I'm not a stuck-up a-hole (dispite my best attempts to give that appearance in print, haha), so if you see me don't be shy and please say hi :)

It would be cool to see some of you there... It may be easy to find shadowthrone judging by his description of himself...

And it would be really great to meet Opeth. So Satori, they may be around early watching the other bands or something?

cheers all and enjoy the show!

I've been to two Opeth shows, and the guys were around before they went on in both cases. I was even able to talk to them *after* their set at one of the shows.

The Opera house is larger than the venue where they played in Toronto before, so I don't know if this makes the situation any different. They are also much more popular now I think, so I think there's going to be more people at the show, which also lessens your chances of meeting them. But I still think that if you just go nice and early you'll get a chance. I'm sure they know how much they are loved and respected by the fans and how thilling it is for the fans to meet them, and they seem too genuinely nice to not make themselves available to give someone the thrill of meeting them. They are really really cool guys. :)

I remember the first time I went to see them play, I was standing in line on some stairs waiting my turn to pay and go in and a few feet behind me I heard this deep and distinctive voice behind me say "excuse me", it was Mikael, he was trying to get by to get up the stairs, and then some guy shouted "hey mike!" and then everyone in the line turned and saw him (he's a big guy) and everyone in the stair line started cheering, it was soooo cool. :)Mike just smiled shyly and looked like he was going to blush as he made his way up the stairs past everyone, and people were patting him on the back and stuff, and some guys were chanting "O-peth! O-peth!" It gave me such a rush.

It's going to be good! Oh yea, the Opera house, aside from being pretty big, has really great acoustics when it's packed with people, and there's also a balcony, but I don't know if they'll have it open or not. Since it's an all ages metal show they might close the balcony out of fear that some stoned/drunk limp bizkit type fan might flip out and jump off the balcony or whatever.
