Velvet Revolver's support act is...

Glad to hear it was awesome Salty! Do you remember what time they got on stage? Coz I've got something on before the Melbourne show and all it says on the ticket is 8:00?

How many people were there?

I was told by friend in Melbourne that they are now doing a deal where if you buy the CD and take the receipt along to ticketmaster or whatever, they give you two concert tickets for the price of one... a sure sign the presales have been bad!

Hmm I dunno. I suck at judging crowd numbers.

They had about a third of the Entertainment Centre blocked off with a fuck off huge curtain...and what they had open seemed pretty packed to me...but I was jammed up among a squash of moshing freaks for most of it so I really dunno.

This doesn't really surprise me. Radio didn't exactly get behind the album here. I think I heard "Slither" twice, yet GNR and STP get played everyday. There was a photo of Slash in a weekend paper here with the caption "Slash signs autographs for anyone who can remember who he is in London". Excuse me? 'Contraband' went to No. 1 in America, so he's hardly nobody. It's always been the same in this country.

I will add here however that I wasn't overly impressed with 'Contraband', to be honest. It's ok, but it's not world-changing. I'd be more excited going to see the Screaming Jets, but I'll be fucked if I'll pay $60 for that.

The Jets were great...but VR just totally owned the stage...I wasn't really into their stuff before the show and had only heard some of Contraband, but seeing the show rose my appreciation of them a fuckload. Awesome lighting...the lighting really struck me as quite awesome. Nothing spectacular in the size or complexity, just really well done spotlight work...cool strobe use...really fitting for the type of rock show they put on.
