Velvet Revolver's support act is...

This doesn't really surprise me. Radio didn't exactly get behind the album here. I think I heard "Slither" twice, yet GNR and STP get played everyday. There was a photo of Slash in a weekend paper here with the caption "Slash signs autographs for anyone who can remember who he is in London". Excuse me? 'Contraband' went to No. 1 in America, so he's hardly nobody. It's always been the same in this country.

Apparently, they also RE-played some promo interview on the radio that was aired a little while ago in which they were saying some Gunners stuff will be played at the concert too... kinda angling it along the lines of "well I know you don't give a shit about VR, but come see three ex GNR members play some of their old songs".

Remember when Motley cancelled a few years back because of terrible presales? I don't think people really get into hard rock in this country anymore unless it's KISS, AC/DC or Bon Jovi. Although I thought the promoters for VR were a bit ambitious with the large arena's they booked for the tour.

Brides of Destruction played at the Gaelic Club in Sydney and had two sold-out shows there. That's about 3000 people, which is half the capacity of the Hordern, where VR was playing to about the same size crowd. So yeah, VR could have played smaller rooms.

But Bon Jovi have only been here on one tour of their own in the last 10 yrs.1995 was the last time they had their own tour and didn't play as part of a lame ass festival. The last time they were here they were limtited to 50min set.The previous one they played 1hr 20mins before other acts were brought onto the stage for a "jam" session for a further 20mins.
In 1995 they were on stage for 2hrs.

They wouldn't be able to sell enough tickets for a stadium at all!
They might be OK at the Hordern or even entertainment centre but not the concerts they like to do!No single since "This is my Life" has gotten in the top twenty. The last 2 times they have been here there have only been about 3-4 rows of hard core fans up the front.T-shirts sales at these events have been not that great.

U2, Bon Jovi, Madonna and others who have sold over a hundred MILLION albums can play anywhere and sell the places out nearly every time. I mean, Kiss played a stadium up in Queensland, and filled the Entertainment Centre etc. So I can see why Bon Jovi couldnt. (I know the last Kiss tour didnt sell well, but thats because they did about 6 tours in 5 years).

Its always die hard fans of a band in the first 5 or 6 rows. I dont think Bon Jovi would have any problems doing a tour here of all the big venues like the Ent Cent (without curtaining off half of the place).

Theya re not the super group they once were here in Australia. If they do a tour on their own with one support they could not sell out arenas like they did 10 yrs ago.
The bush fire appeal back in 2001 did not sell anywhere near out and they had Jimmy Barnes and a few other well known acts here. The Rumba tour did not sell anywhere near out and that had Shaggy and other big known teen acts.

Fucking get the message people!

Dogstar didn't even play the Sydney gig.
The Sydney one was such a bad day.Started out so hot and horrible. Then mid afternoon cloded over so quick.Hail the size of golf balls came down for a good 20mins.Turned Eastern Creek into a mud pit.I had huge ass bruises all over me from the hail.Covered in mud from my knees down. Then all of a sudden not long before Bon Jovi came on back to hot and sticky. They played for 2hrs though.

Which GnR songs did they play, Salty? It's So Easy and Mr Brownstone?

Bon Jovi were awesome at the bushfire benefit. I wish they'd come back.

A lot of Velvet Revolver seats were sold in the first five minutes. I don't know how things went after that....
