The song starts slow with Kamijo just singing but wait oh just wait suddenly amazing power metal shred erupts and it looks like these Japanese dolls are playing your favourite music ever! They should go to progpower and leave all your faces aghast! :D

interesting- i wasn't really familiar w/visual kei before u posted this-
it's kindof like you threw Adam Ant & Bow Wow into a blender- although the androgyny aspect of it is more than a little wierd, i will likely buy this- Thanks!:worship:

I don't even give a shit, I'd totally bed this one

Seriously though, this band is so... I dunno, dumb? I understand that for Japan they are some sort of strange power metal/visual kei pop amalgamation and that everything is a gimmick, but it's just ridiculous. I used to have a real soft spot for these guys a year or two ago but it's almost completely worn off now. I can only listen/watch to see just how much sillier they have become. They've been milking the same vocal melody line for almost their whole career, not to mention the predictable harmonized aternating picking/sweep segways (I have heard pretty well all their releases).

The bass section of the song was actually pretty cool, there were a handful of decent riffs and it's obvious that like every other Japanese band they were born with guitars thrust into their hands and can play circles around 99% of the world. But come on. Peel away the flashy finger acrobatics, ridiculous imagery and there's really not much else going on in there, song-wise.

Thanks for posting, I like Versailles and would love to see them and or any highly esteemed J-Rock/J-Metal band at Progpower. Going from X-Japan to say Hyde and other J-Rock was an adjustment, and the lower ranged singing that is usually used was an aquired taste for me, but I grew to love it. At the same time, I see your point Element Man. I liked the previous album better from what I have heard compared to in this one, but it hasn't worn off for me. It still makes me have Connies reaction slightly.. like wait.. huh?? That's a woma.. er.. It's kinda confusing, a tad bit scary, but I like Visual Kei.

Fire breath, I've been trying to get this community into Versailles for a couple years now. It'll be the same old comments about their looks, the singer, etc... At least Element_Man has some decent points. I'd agree with most of them, but for me the formula hasn't lost it's appeal yet.

This new song is very nice and I'll probably buy the single, or wait until the next full-length. The new bassist is quite skilled and certainly seems to fit rather nicely.

This.
:D
I think that this video might have Kamijo at his best--when the guy tries to go out of his vocal range he sounds horrible. Here he contains himself very well and is quite good.

Yes, they have a gimmick image, but the musicianship is undeniably good. I put them in the same class as a lot of bands where they have mad skills but do not seem to grow from album to album. They remind me of Dragonforce or Twighlightning, with fancy costumes (AND better riffs).

Would they have the same amount of success if they played it straight? Maybe...but they ARE the best Kei band out there IMO.

Sorry, not interested, just can't get into the visual kei stuff, guess I am just getting too old.

This.

I was thinking that myself. I don't hate his voice but I do think this is his best since his days in Lareine.

No. The visual kei community is the only one really embracing the band, since the power metal community can't seem to give two shits or is still confused about the costumes as if KISS & GWAR haven't been around for decades. [/annoyed]

Sorry, the whole visual kei thing is ridiculous. I like X Japan and all, but the whole "J-Glam" is too much.

As for Versailles, didn't really get into them. I am checking out the new Galneryus album. So far I like it.

You and your opinions :P

J-Glam is a company name created by one musician by the name of Miyavi (MYV) and a term he likes to throw around at will. No one else uses the term except his fans. I cringed when he first started using it and now it's everywhere :Puke:

Of course. And that's how it will always be. People loved Galneryus around here even when they had a vocalist who sounded worse than Kamijo (Versailles' singer) on his worst day.

Side-note: I don't get the hang up on the visuals being a reason to toss out a band completely. No one here has really done it, that I know of, but it's true of other places in the metal community when visual kei bands have come up in conversations. Maybe I'm just jealous that a craptastic band like KISS can become musical icons with little talent and monster makeup but a band like Versailles can't even get a foothold in their genre with heaps of talent and aristocrat costumes. Maybe if they looked more like this people would take them seriously?

Yes, that's right. I have mine, you have yours and all is good. :D

Okay, fair enough. I still consider J-Glam anything that looks like Versailles, or those outrageous japanese rock/metal bands. It's like saying "Disturbed to me is metal." A lot of people may disagree based on certain arguments, but that's the bottom line.

Well, the stuff I checked from Galneryus has always been better than the stuff I've checked about Versailles. Then again, I don't know both band's full catalog. Any suggestions?

To me, Kiss always looked as stupid as any of these V-Kei bands. That being said, I've never dismissed a band based on their visual.

Don't be preposterous. Yama-B is easily one of the best-sounding modern Japanese metal vocalists ever, especially on the first two albums. I wish more singers from Japan could express as much fire, energy, grit and theatrical energy as Yama-B. His style certainly changed on his later albums, but there's no way you can listen to The Flag of Punishment or Advance to the Fall and disagree. Even his deeper, more operatic vocal style on later disks has more vibrant and dynamic delivery than Kamijo's monotonous yowling.

Claus: Upon further reflection, I have to retract my statement. There's no way my ego would allow me to be with a babe who plays a meaner guitar than me. Even is "she" is a "he". :loco:

The latest single and vid from our friends from Japan. These guys like releasing singles a lot it seems, they probably have huge success with it in Japan. Yes it's typical stuff from them but the music is very well played especially that solo section in this song.

interesting discussion-Have picked up most of their catalog since firebreath first posted this/have to say I love the hell out of the stuff- to me it's sort of "Crooner Metal" musically, like Michael Buble' fronted metal (I'm NOT hoping for that!) Hizaki, regardless of what you think of his fashion sense or image, plays the hell out of that guitar, as does the rest of the band on their respective instruments. AND (this'll piss some people off) at the end of the day, is their image really any more ridiculous than that of say, Dimmu Borgir or Behemoth? hmmmm..........
