Did you all know Pepsi owns the chains Pizza Hut and Taco Bell? They also own food products like Dole (the fruit juice) and Quaker eh.

Very old story. One day Pizza Butt begun only to serve Pepsi :yuk: , as for Taco Hell I never bother to poison myself there.

In general I despise all fast food franchises, except maybe for KFC at least I know I'm eating chicken and not some soy wannabejoke of a burger.

As for sodas, there's only one:

Here Coca-Cola company have another water brand I think is Alpina, and actually it doesn't belong to Coca-Cola Company but to the local bottling company.

There's also a beverage called Hi-C which concentrated is also made by CCC on their plant.

I remember that in Reno, NV the university campus and many places were married to Pepsi (so much for free enterprise), so I was forced to buy Coke in the groceries store and make a huge stash in the garage

I knew that. And by the way folks, I avoid soda drinks like the plague. Nothing but heavily marketed sugar water.

Actually all sodas (gaseous beverages) are bad for the gasthroinstestinal system. One of the reflex that makes the stomach secrete acid into the cavity is expansion of the walls. Of course gas causes a huge expansion and therefore the stomach secrets acid and enzymes believing is just a huge amount of food.

So as long as you eat while drinking a soda the possible damage due to excess acid can be managed.

Also moderation is a key, if you drink 2 (600 mL) sodas a day is not that bad, but if you go for 2-3 L a day then...

Sounds like I'm up the creek...although after having problems with stones earlier this year I have cut down on caffeinated sodas...

Actually Pepsico bought Taco Bell, PH and KFC years ago... they wanted to split the restaurant stuff a little bit away from the Soda thing so they created Tricon which is actually still owned by Pepsi. Tricon used to be just the big three (PH, TB, KFC) but as of late they obtained Back Yard Burger, A&W, Long John Silvers, and a few other smaller chains that I can't think of right at this moment... It is no longer called Tricon but now is called YUM! Silly... There was a few years back much talk of putting all of the big three under one roof at one time. What a logistical nightmare for fast (semi fast) food...

I know this because I worked for a PH Franchisee for about ten years doing building design/construction/remodels etc. Actually I still work with them... As a subcontractor now.

Oh yeah Pepsi blows!

I've read that a 12-oz can of Coke/Pepsi/whatever has 7 tablespoons of sugar. Would you want to sit down at the table and eat that much sugar straight from the bowl? If you go to McDonalds and get a super-size 64-oz soda, then you're getting about 40 tablespoons of sugar.

Opt instead for a more healthy beverage... like beer! :)
