Vibratoooo

 Kittarin

Yeah, I hate the vocal vibrato in power metal bands especially. Ugh, *shudder* The same goes for those retarded girls who think screeching real high and using lots of vibrato equals opera. omg, take some lessons please. I also hate slooooow vibrato -- Anneke gets dangerously close sometimes.

So you don't like Iron Maiden or Iced Earth, eh?

Maiden are overated. Then again, they aren't really my kind of band. I like a few songs but, in general, I don't rate them as highly as the majority of you would.

Pancakes:

It's hard to explain, but im gonna try
(just because you're a special guy)

hehe.... i rhymed. :D

anyways, vibrato is when the singer holds a note and it sounds like they go sharp and flat, and back again over and over and over, but really fast so that it sounds cool (or so they think.)

Still confused?
Try singing one note and hold it. Then start hitting (don't hurt yourself!) your throat really fast so it goes wobbly-like.
Vibrato is that, but done without the throat-hitting, and it usually sounds more subtle.

It's most common in vocals, but you can do it on instruments too.
Guitars can make a similar noise, by moving the finger that's holding down the string.

STILL lost??
Listen to anything by Miles Davis. He uses lots on his trumpet.
Or Chet Baker's singing. Very good.
