Volume swell with Kemper

Any pointers on how to get a good volume swell sound out of the Kemper?

I can't seem to get anything that matches the power of a real mic/cab.

I use an expression pedal sett to pre-effects. Works great.

I have never used an expression pedal. That is via midi?
