Voyager's upcoming US tour

None of thier songs stood out or had hooks or were the least bit catchy. Everything blended together and there was no reason with that short of a set list to play a goofy song that didnt want to end and most of the references were for songs that most of the crowd was not born to even get.

You seem to grasping at straws to hate this band. It's not your cup of tea and that's fine. To be honest I expected you to not like this band.

And everyone knows Ghostbusters! It's the greatest movie of all time.

I knew eventually you would complain about that. It's just good fun and a change of pace from the seriousness from a lot of the rest of their music. I can see the argument for not doing it when they have a short set though, but at the same time, when they do the medley it's always a fan favorite, which is probably why they did it.

It boils down though to it all being subjective. You guys don't think it's catchy. When I first listened to Voyager, I immediately remembered most of the songs. Now, if we were talking the new album, that would be a different story as outside of the title track, I felt it was a very disappointing album.

Voyager holds the distinction of having the longest signing session in the history of the fest. My staff was just as shocked as the band as the line went on forever.

They also hold the record for selling the most CDs after their set finished at the official merch table with a little over 200 sold.

They got the biggest ovation of the night as well.

THIS!

Diabolik is definitely in the minority when it comes to his feelings about Voyager :headbang:

And a well deserved one too. Thank you for bringing them to the fest last year.

We know that many bands in this genre debut in the US at ProgPower USA and later go on tour in the US.

But many bands would even dream of going on tour without playing ProgPower first? Hence everyone who is into this music MUST attend this year

This is very true. When I was hanging out with the Voyager guys, they acknowledged that they would never of been able to get the opportunity to open for RoF if they hadn't had such a great response at ProgPower. I know of so many people that say "I wish (for example) Circus Maximus would tour in the U.S." Well, if the Fest goes away, so does any chance of seeing any of your favorite European prog or power metal bands in the U.S. other than the ones that are already established touring acts here (after playing PPUSA first of course!) If you haven't purchased your tickets for this year yet, do it now and insure that the prog and power metal scene will stay alive in the U.S!

Saw the show on fri in Toronto..early show as well..they went on at 7,10 and played 32 mins,,which i was totally pissed..was hoping for 45 mins and at least more then 2 songs from TMOI..that being said they were great and the small crowd of around 150 really dug them.....super cool band and luv the huge 80s vibe to them..

from what I have read and heard and saw last night...they seem to be only playing for 30 minutes. Odd that they are not getting at least 45 minutes.

I would have happily suffered 15 minutes more of them than the 3 terrible locals on the show.

I helped out with merch at the Joliet show, as their set wound down I started getting slammed, even got a few "missed them at ProgPower, shouldn't have" responses, as well as some folks who didn't go, but heard about them.

And for fuck's sake....THEY'RE AUSSIES!!!! They play up that fact and view the whole performance as something to be enjoyed, both by them and the audience. As for the Meaning of I, it's a pretty indepth (aka serious) album. Quite honestly, I enjoyed their set much more than Rhapsody and their never ending line of encores.

Seems someone needs a laxative to release the putrefying rectal rodent.

You see, I'm the opposite. As I said, I just haven't been able to get into that new album, outside of the title track. I don't think it's bad but it doesn't grab me like the other albums do. Yeah, I do agree with the others that it's weird to have only 30 or 35 minutes for them considering they are direct support and practically got equal amount as locals, especially when they seemed to be promoted so well being on the bill.

I guess Worcester, MA was the exception, they played for 40 minutes there, possibly because they knew their Honey Badger fanboy was in attendance?

I definitely met a few people at the Worcester show who had no idea who Voyager were and were instantly converted. It was great to see that kind of enthusiasm, especially at what might've been the least-populated "big" metal show I've ever seen at that place.

Got handed a PP flier too, haha :)

Yeah after the Joliet, IL show there was a ProgPower business card stuck on my car.

Voyager must have hit you with it then. The band I noticed had a good stack of Progpower business cards at their merch table. Interesting you got that on your car, but I didn't, considering we were in the same parking garage.

I didn't realize that was you at the merch table! I'd have said "hi" to you, as well. I'm the one that asked Scott if I could give him a hug. :)

And I got quite possibly the best hug EVER. Definitely top three metal hugs, the other two being Nils K. Rue and Alex Skolnick.

Just got back from the St Paul show! Wonderful night of great music and class-act performances! Rhapsody were really good but I was there for Voyager, and Voyager alone. The sound was mixed perfectly (Rhapsody's guy did it for them too), there were zero technical troubles, every note was hit perfectly, and they had 100% of the energy we saw at ProgPower. After the set and throughout the night, I watched them get approached left and right by people praising them, thanking them, expressing that they were blown away and bought merch, wanting autographs and photos, telling stories of Australia (lol), so from where I sat, Rhapsody are the legends but Voyager are the future \m/

I can't find a reason to dislike this band - they're SO talented, warm and lovely personalities, wonderful performers, and their music is some of the best I've ever heard! They had me at "Lost" but The Meaning of I touches on a few personal heartstrings. I've talked at length with Danny about the experiences that inspired the album and, suffice it to say, we've shared a lot of the same triumphs and heartaches. So perhaps that makes me extremely biased when it comes to the band and that album, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
