VST Stompboxes before reamp?

has anyone tried to use vst stompoxes on a di track before reamping?

i recently tried with a wah wah effect around,, i automated the wah motion in the daw and reamped through the amp again,

i cant say if it was an authentic tone, but at the end, it was sounding not too bad.

i wonder if anybody has done something similar yet?
like using delays, chorus and other effects?

I've been meaning to try that and compare it to my actual TS7...

As I don't have a tubescreamer, this is how I do it when running to something outboard instead of ampsims. Works just fine for me. Though I'm not able to compare it to using a real TS.
