VSTi Guitars Comparison!!

The first one (vir 2 electri6ity) sounds awesome. Can any of these generate bass tones as well? And where did you get all of them? (Figure you didn't buy each of them)

Shreddage II sounds tighter on the palm mute and seems more complexe/subtle in feeling, and i really missed that from others libraries, but the sound of the Musicman they sampled isn't my cup of tea... Prefer Electric6ty for the sound, and somewhat like V-metal but sounds a little bit emg/generic metal sound to me...

Did you try to put the aggressive eq option in Shreddage II? It'll may add that little "in your face" feeling I feel it's missing...?

There seems to be more "chugg"/ real sounding bass from palm mute on Shreddage.

I agree.

Shreddage II has the most tightest and rounded palm mutes. V-Metal sounds really good too, but has a lack of gain on the mutes and a bit too much "5th string" sound on the fifth chords. Electri6ity is the most complex and featured of all of them, but doesn't sound too "metal" or tight for me IMO.

Yeah I did. In fact, I've copied the "aggressive eq" and applied to all the guitars.

The company Vir2 has a dedicated virtual bass called BASIS. And no, I have not bought most of the instruments: some of them have been given to me by the companies to make demos as a beta tester. :D

I like the first one especially. I didn't know the VSTis sounded that good for demo purposes!

Neither did I many years ago, considering that most of the demos sound robotic.

How much work do you have to put on them, is it long to switch between the different banks (I imagine you need some keychange to use slides and vibrato etc). I would find interest in those for my own demo purposes

I've not put all the work that I would have liked. The demos have been made against the clock, despite of the switches between the banks.

For me it would be great because I can write the whole tune in my own best key for singing and then just midi-transpose it for whoever actually sings on it. That would be the main benefit for me.

It serves its purpose: to work as a tool. :heh:

They don't sound bad at all but playing guitar is so complex that when you try to imitate that with a keyboard then using it becomes a nightmare...

I think it's more intended to be used as a songwriter tool than for live playing, guitar sounds way too weird played on a keyboard even by the best keyboardist ever.

It sounds plain wrong for a guitarist ears but I can see it useful for demos, or for industrial music !

This is very cool! Shreddage has the best palm mute sounds, which I think is important in metal guitars.
I've played around with Electri6ity and V Metal, and neither of those have a good palm mute sound.

Interesting to see them all played out next to each other though!

Nothing can replace a real guitar with a real guitarist, of course.

This is just that: a tool. Its use is another thing.

I think Shreddage 2 has the best palm mutes too.
