Wacken 2003

That's impressive, and I'm glad to hear they ripped up on all others that day...

It must be something to play for 30k fans one month, then come home and play for, if you're lucky, 300. I am gonna find my way out there someday to experience it!

I'll leave that to the Testa-guys...

I prefer the side of the stage, away from view!

I prefer in front of the stage where you can go crazy!! :hotjump:
Once I've watched a show of a favorite band from the side of the stage.. I can't tell you how quick I ran those stairs between the back of the stage towards the hall itself (no I don't stagedive;)) to join the front rows :loco:

I saw only the last part of Testament's show in Wacken from way in the back, because I had (and wanted) to support my buddies from Symphorce (kick-ass show btw!!). So I can hardly call it my favorite show from Wacken, because I didn't really "live" that show. If I would, I'm sure they would've been one of my faves!! But now, to me that was Kataklysm!! Symphorce too. And oh Slayer could NOT top any of them and I'm not even kidding!! Their show was lame (esp. for their standards). Anyone who has seen them before (esp. last year in Balingen) will agree!! At least that's the only reaction I've heard and read so far in several places.

It was quite something to see this immense turnout after seeing them in a small venue with maybe 250 ppl one week earlier!! It must've been a bit less than 30k, because the tickets were apparently limited to 30k and you never have literally everybody in front of one stage. But having 29k in front of you is still fuckin' A, no? :D

@ TL

haha, no way, you have to be upon the stage with us in front of and screamin´ for ya to stagedive :D

@ Marlies

You´re fuckin´ right (Du hast Recht *g*), Slayer really ruled 2002 in Balingen on the Bang Your Head Open Air but were really disappointing in Wacken. I dunno what the hell they were doin´ but it sucked. The Wacken crew should have given Testament the opportunity to play 90 minutes and not Slayer ´cuz the bastards just played 75 min. ...

Marlies, there must have been more than 30,000... I have never seen the festival area so packed and still there were a huge amount on the camping area too.

Um, maybe 10 years ago ;)!

Aaaah, come on, you´re not 80 years old yet ... but I see, there´s no chance TL diving "into the pit" ... :D

Maybe next year on the Bang Your Head Open Air ? Horst Odermatt (the "owner" of the "Heavy Oder Was" magazine and the festival) told me he tried to sign Testament for this year´s Bang Your Head but the guys had some other plans ... they MUST come 2004 to Balingen and wreck our necks with a new killer album :loco:

Sounds like the guys better put out a new album this year....I think after this tour and the way people are raving about them it could be the biggest album yet!

C'mon guys...kick all our asses with some absolutely CRUSHING new tunes to make our ears bleed!!!!

My impression (and Nico's too btw) was that is wasn't nearly as packed as last year. Nico said the crowds he had to walk around (from one photopit to another) weren't as big.
