Playing an instrument regarding what style is going to have some nerd factor because your are taking special interests in it over anything else. I can't think of any bands I like in metal that seem like they are trying to be tough or are nerdy trying to be tough.

That band is still ten times more nerdy and homosexual than any metal bands(not counting power metal). Did you hear some of those band members talk ?
