Warrel in Seattle again on 3/19

Why not El Corazon? They have a better bar.
I would encourage you to boycott El Cor. They are renound for treating both fans and bands like total dogshit. In addition, you can't actually watch the band from the bar. Roughly half the establishment routinely smells like someone pissed in the hallway. And, as a special added bonus, I have NEVER seen any member of any band actually pole dance. :) Truly, though, it's a horrible venue, IMO. Really no redeeming qualities. It's too wide and tough to get a good view, especially around the pole. It's got precious little seating for us old folks. Truly, I could go on and on and on and on.... and I guess I frequently do....

Edit: Oh, and btw, that "noob" is my bf. LOL!

 Yea, their bathrooms are pretty fucking disgusting and I don't like the fact that you can't see the bands from the bar. However, their bar seems to be roomier and it doesn't seem to get as hot there as it does at Studio 7. I like having space since I have social anxiety and can't deal with being too close to too many people. If I had it my way, all shows would have seating so people like me can actually enjoy the show, rather than getting whipped in the eye by some fucktwit vocalist's disgusting dreadlocks or having to deal with people like 'the frizziness' (Will, Laura, Tyler....you all know what I'm talking about).

ROFL! OK, I totally get that. I learned to fly at El Cor, to be totally honest. I believe Warrel said "Come on! Somebody shove somebody!" And at S7, I got a black eye in the Braindead's mosh pit. Some nice teens found my glasses for me and then sent me up to the bar where I'd be "safe". *mutters* fucking kids! But that back room at S7 has nice puffy seating and they have a monitor so you can see the stage, and you're not far away, really, so it's awesome if you're having an old-person attack. And just as a special added bonus, it's IN THE BAR!!!!!!! So you, sir, could have EVERYTHING you ever wanted and more, just by going upstairs, buying yourself some alcohol, turning left, walking almost to the wall, then turning right, and sitting down in front of the monitor. Yay! Now we're ALL happy! *happy dance*

Every time I have in the bar at Studio 7, it has been packed. Maybe that is because those times have always been on Fridays/weekends and I have only been to El Corazon during the week. My vocalist wants me to go to a show at Studio 7 tomorrow but can't. Fucking school.

K, well, if school is getting in the way of the most excellent shows at S7, then it has TOTALLY got to go! :D Yeah, I've seen the bar packed, too, but I don't know if you've noticed that back room or not. It's not real obvious. It's straight behind the lighting guy, not out by the balcony. But the sound's still completely decent, and although I've seen all the seating in there "full", I've never seen that room "packed". If you have a social anxiety, I'd suggest you look for it. That and the smoking area (so long as someone's actually on stage), well, or I guess the bathrooms, are the best ways to get some personal space in the whole venue. Personally, I work in Customer Service all day long, so by the time I get to a metal show at night, any person I'm not inclined to hug, I likely want to deck, so I'm totally on board with your "issues". And, to be fair, when my whole family was sick and still determined to see a show, El Cor was good to us with the cushy booths and such, but S7's back room is just as tumfy, and smells WAY better.

I was telling Mike a.k.a. Krazymike a.k.a. my vocalist the other day how I get so jealous at shows. I love supporting bands (especially local bands) and love seeing them perform but I get jealous of the fact that they're doing it and I'm not. I know I shouldn't really put on a 'woe is me' persona but I know the feeling you receive from performing.....and it is a fucking glorious feeling. The adrenaline rush and the state of euphoria you receive from playing in front of individuals who dig the sounds you're making is the best feeling I can recall ever having.

I get that sometimes too haha, when I see new just signed bands opening for huge bands I like and doing awesome tours I always think fuck, why can't I get to that level haha! The good news is it just drives you to work harder and push even harder, kinda like when you hear something amazing on guitar it just baffles you and makes you want to practice to get better.

See? And that's what it's all about, really. If you have "it" in you, and you go with your drive to perform what you feel inside, you've already "made it" and fuck the record companies. Drive is huge and absolutely keep trying to better yourself, but a lot of the industry is who you know and getting lucky -- being at the right place in the right time, etc. Don't go with a "woe is me" anything, Cat5. Really. If you're following your heart, you're doing it right. There are a lot of mindfuckingly talented musicians who never "make it", but some failed, bitter musician failing to take notice of them isn't an editorial comment on their talent. Just be you. In the end, you're the most important person you have to impress.

Especially when the band members are fucking kids! For example, I dig (and will get a shit ton of shit for this) Trivium. I have been listening to them since Ember to Inferno and have heard them progress as a band incredibly. Matt Heafy also did vocals for a tech-death metal band named Capharnaum, who released Fractured in 2004. I was surprised to find out that the fucker was born in 1986 which means, he was touring before he was even 21. It's just crazy.

Yea, it's all about devotion and the mix of the right individuals. We have a pretty good band right now and our drummer is pretty good, which is very hard to find. Our crazy work schedules and Mike's shitty neighbors are putting a cramp in our practice times. Though, we still are keeping on truckin' and as long as we don't give up, I could really see us going somewhere.
