Links down. You gotta cut from the crap that doesn't sound good. each drum has something anywhere from 200 to 800. Guitars have woofyness around 200 boxyness around 800 and fizzyness around 4k and 6k. Bass has mud and crap anywhere from 200 to 700. Vocals are always a bitch. hpf everything. I log everything but overheads. I try to cut stuff that will let desirable frequencies through. Like if my snare thumps around 200 I'll cut some guitar and bass there. Not so much that I lose what sounds good but enough to let the snare pop out. Use your ears
