Waves API -> Snappy Drums!!

Hey guys,

I demoed the Waves API bundle and the URS CSP and while I don't like the URS at all, I *love* the Waves API.

I never knew it was possible to get a fat and snappy snare out of DFHS ...

Song is generic rock and the playing, EQing and balances are crap. This was originally done to test the Waves GTR3 Demo but I quickly focused on the drums, cause I fell in love with the sound I got.

I totally agree on the API versus CSPro statement. I demo'd both and ended up going with the API. The compressor is the shit!

Jup, way overcompressed, the initial compression sounds okay i gues.. just back it off a bit..

Noooo!! I love it like that!!! I know that I turned the compression up a little, but I like it for regular rock ...

Sounds much groovier like this and much more boring with less compression

The amount of compression you have might be ok if you work with your attack time some. I usually end up with something in the 30ms range, but it depends of the drum, and the sound I am going for. This is a good setting because it lets the initial hit come through, and still sound natural, but it tightens up the drum sound quite a bit. If you want to use some thing as quiick as you have, you are going to have to back off the threshold or ratio knob lot, becuase it is actually very distracting, and can even become fatiguing to listen to.

still sounds really compressed, but it has a nic punch to it. It would probabaly be nice for some paralell compression.
