Waves Summer Sale - Tape Plugin

Thinking about getting their tape plugin on sale. How does it rate with Slate's? Is the Waves one worth it?

I've never used the Slate version but I like it well enough. It doesn't seem terribly versatile though; mostly well-suited to acoustic instruments.

So the Waves J37 wouldn't be good for distorted guitars or bass bus?

I'm going to demo them tomorrow and see how they stack up against each other. Just wondered if it is worth the effort.

Right now I can get J37 for $68 or Slate's for $99.

Another vote for VTM. I tried J37 at a buddies place, It doesn't suck but it wasn't as versatile as the Slate's VTM which gives you 1/2" and 2" tape emulations that actually sound like tape.

i love the J37, specially on bass...you can get a lot of grit with the j37. The slate is awesome...i use it more in the mix bus than on individual instruments.
