That being said, the conversation turns to Sanctuary's beginnings in Seattle. "Back in '87, we were at a King Diamond / Megadeth show. After the show, half the band sought out King Diamond to give him a copy of our demo. The other half sought out Dave Mustaine. We found him and gave our copy to him.

As though out of left field, Warrel suddenly exudes a sort of unbridled enthusiasm. "Dude, if I can turn the tables for a minute, what's your opinion on Bruce Dickinson rejoining Iron Maiden?" Before an answer can be mustered, he continues, "I'm fucking ecstatic over it. That guy's voice is insane." The honesty continues to flow. "I'm sorry, but Blaze Bayley was a good singer, but he sucked in Maiden." He observes. "While I'm glad to see 'em back together, I was almost disappointed to see Bruce's solo career end, because some good things were happening for him. The Chemical Wedding, is brilliant. Now that's a fucking metal album! How's Maiden gonna top that? I can't wait to see it. I love Maiden with Bruce Dickinson."

We're very much looking forward to this tour, because we all are huge Fates Warning fans. Personally, I think Ray Alder is one of the best singers in metal there is
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Halford, Halford, Halford! I think his new album is fucking great. And yes, I heard Engine, also very good. Slipknot? Well, they're not my favourite band, but I do think that they're good in what they do. Did you know they sold more than 1.000.000 albums overhere in the US? It's crazy. I do question whether you'll hear these bands in ten years from now or not. I don't think they'll last that long.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IN FLAMES?
Yeah! I like them a lot....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
And..... we're
big FORBIDDEN fans because SANCTUARY toured a lot with FORBIDDEN in 1990 I think ........
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, what are some vocalists that have influenced you?
OZZY, HALFORD, and DIO, the unholy trinity! That's my main influence.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P: What do you consider to be a good metal band?
W: Uh..MERCYFUL FATE. Death. Iced Earth. there's just more quality metal than there's been in the past four or five years...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
W: You know what I just got? It's not new, but I haven't heard it in years but it's just mindblowing..."Leftoverture" from Kansas...It's just FU*KING killer...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P: What would you say constitutes a sellout?
W: Changing your style of music so drastically....drastically changing your style of music very quickly...you know, if you're last record sounded like "south of heaven' and your next record sounds like "Load."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P:What are the other guys from Sanctuary up to?
W: Can you say McDonald's(laughs)? Let's see. The drummer, Dave is living in Florida doing some work in the local church. He had a definite shift in mindset after leaving sanctuary. Shawn and Lenny are playing music kind of...Just saw that at the show in Seattle. They always have to throw in "when are we going to do the reunion album?" I'm like, "Man you just want to do it for the wrong reasons." No, there are no plans for that. And uh, sean is doing soundtrack work for independent works. Lenny is doing another band, he's done like three or four.
P: DO they experience any regrets?
W: Oh, they know they screwed up. I mean, when we broke up it was ugly. It was all because, getting back to an earlier question..the next sanctuary record....if we would have let lenny have his way, it would have been like "south of heaven" to "Load." Bad Alice in Chains was not what I wanted to sing to. I mean, Alice in chains in my favorite band from that whole genre but I didn't think we needed to go in that direction and we ended up in a big fist fight. Didn't speak for a couple of years.
-------------he says he likes AIC somewhere in there-------------------
MU: Do you like bands like Dream Theater?
WD: Oh yeah
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
well, thats from about 4 or 5 interviews and it gives you an idea of the bands he likes
