Hello all. I have just found out about Orphaned Land and, wow. I am a huge fan of folk and melodeath and I have to say this is one of the better bands I have encountered. I was wondering if there are any other Israeli bands that are similar. Also, if anyone could tell me what song plays in the background on Orphaned Land's webpage, I would be eternally grateful.

Nevermind. It's The Calm Before the Flood. I just purchased Mabool from iTunes and it is incredible.

You won't really find any other israeli band like Orphaned Land.
But you can try the Turkish band Mezarkabul (used to be Pentagram)

I'd also recommend Melechesh. They're more along the lines of black and thrash metal, but the songs themselves are pure folk.

Cool video. I saw it in Melechesh's bulletin a couple of days ago.

Maybe if OL tours the US, Moloch might stop by (he lives here now)

Hmm, none of them are "folk", as requested, or at least the very old Salem. And Nile is just a big joke.
