Welcome Back Cythraul!

Can you even access all of the metal reviews they used to have on there anymore? They also used to have a list of the top albums from each genre I think.

I'm not sure if you're making a joke there, and if you are, Arg would certainly disagree with you.

ANUS the website certainly did have great taste in metal despite how verbose and pretentious their reviews were. Other than their dislike of The Chasm, obviously.

ANUS basically invented in-crowd metal taste, and they thrive on objectively ahistorical falsehoods. They've been shitposting their retarded opinions before the internet even existed. Just because they happen to enjoy some albums that a lot of people enjoy doesn't mean they have good taste, anyone can champion Slayer. Praising them is a sign that you have the musical maturity of an adolescent. Get your own opinions.

Were these lists always this wrong? I wasn't aware that post-FaFtS Sacramentum is speed metal, nor that those two albums are amongst the 6 best speed metal albums ever. Remarkable.

Yeah, that's weird. The folks at ANUS always defined speed metal as what everybody else normally thinks of as thrash (and I think they defined thrash as stuff like D.R.I.) But even given their idiosyncratic definition of speed metal, I'm having trouble seeing how the last two Sacramentum albums clearly fall under that category. Like a lot of matters of definition and categorization over there at ANUS, it is probably ideologically motivated.

Nah, they didn't used to be this wrong. They used to have a top 10-15 from each genre. FaFtS was definitely on their black metal list and not considered a death metal album like it is here!

They've also got Show No Mercy and South of Heaven listed as death metal releases!

Yeah, and I can kind of see an argument for Hell Awaits, Haunting the Chapel and Reign in Blood. Definitely not Show No Mercy and South of Heaven, though.
