Here's my two cents:
Augury - Only played 4 songs. What the fuck. Stand-up french canadians, if I've ever met any, and KICK ASS live. They are definitely one of those perfectionists that play their tracks note for note live. Well done, and I only wanted more from this lot.
The Amenta - All I can say is that Australians know how to turn your brains to shit with sonic brutality. This was the only band that made any effort on make up or costuming, and they played quite easily the most brutal and heavy set that night. Top notch act. If you haven't heard these guys, you are missing out. Check out their myspace.
Warbringer - Good Ol' thrash revival. Shared a joint with the lead singer after the set. Stand up gentleman, he was. Just a great live presence, but nothing special at the end of the day.
Decrepit Birth - I initially was not a fan of their music just listening beforehand to the material they had on myspace. Then they played that shit live... And I took back any criticism I had of them. They are fucking wizards, they just machine gunning through through their entire set with no time for a breather at all. Much better live than they are on record. They've become one of those bands for me.
Vader - What can I say about these polskies that no one knows yet? Every song was basically an anthem. Even Necropolis was a decent piece of music to pick up from them. After sifting through 25 years of material, and then seeing them live for the first time, the only thing left that I wanna say is...
FUCKING VADERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
If this tour is coming your way, I highly recommend it.
Side note - Swashbuckle couldn't get past the Canadian border. I don't know how... but that just happened. And Sam Dunn (Director - Heavy Metal/Global Metal/Iron Maiden flight 666) dropped by. Really cool cat! Oh yeah, and does anyone know any exercises I can do at home to ease the intense muscle cramps/pain that I am experiencing at the back of my neck and shoulders after a long night of headbanging and moshing to shit? Thanks.
Next up on the list is Dying Fetus with The Faceless on the 24th.
