As long as we rebuild based on the ideals that our founding fathers set forth, I agree. I still wholeheartedly believe in those ideals, but it's clear the system is broken. Our country is so poorly educated, that we're not smart enough, as a whole, to demand better. While I don't want to sound like some left-wing nut, the middle class is slowly being destroyed, to meet the needs of big business. This country will most certainly collapse without a strong middle class. Or to put it another way...

The system we learn says we're equal under law,
But the streets are reality, the weak and poor will fall,
Let's tip the power balance and tear down their crown,
Educate the masses, we'll burn the White House down...

I'm in the same boat. Not that it was perfect in 1776, 1787, or even 1863, but the general ideals from then are where we should be once again.
