I have to agree, it's not spectacular & Craig's playing isn't amazing, but as a whole, it's not a bad record. If you liked Dream Evil, I think you'll enjoy this one.SoundMaster said:It's easily his best solo record since "Dream Evil"....it may even be better.

There are really only two 'fast' tempo tunes....the rest are mid tempo, as the reviews have stated.
However, that's NOT a bad thing. Many of Dio's classics are mid temo. There's more of a dark, doomy feeling this time. Imagine a combo of Sab's "Mob Rules" and Dio's last "Killing the Dragon".
Regardless, this record contains some immediate & undeniably ensnaring hooks! The choruses are very melodic and "sing-along-ish".
The hooks in "Man Who Would Be King" and the title track are unreal!
If you like Dio, you're sure to love the record. In my view, 8 of the songs are GREAT, with only two true "fillers" (and most Dio records have many fillers).

My favorite Dio albums are Angry Machines and Strange Highways.SoundMaster said:Well, it's all in the ears, I guess.
In my view, NOTHING is as boring as "Magica" and "Wolves". Making matters worse for "Magica" are the dreadful robot synthesized voice-overs. Cheese to the tenth factor.
But I guess I'm a tad different....I really LIKE "Angry Machines"!
