what about the new DIO?

Anybody got the new DIO? I haven't heard anybody talking about it yet...any good?

I have never heard it, but a good friend of mine wrote a review of it. All the songsare mid-tampo and plodding. Ronnie still sings great, but it is borderline boring.

Bryant

Well, this was actually discussed a bit on *can't remember name of thread* ahhhh yes! "Bottom of the barrel" as far as albums NOT to get, I heard this album a while ago now and I must say it was a painful experience, Like Bryant says Ronnie still sings great but the album is a tanker, stinker (call it whatever you like), guitar work doesn't help it either...very mediocre

It's easily his best solo record since "Dream Evil"....it may even be better.

There are really only two 'fast' tempo tunes....the rest are mid tempo, as the reviews have stated.
However, that's NOT a bad thing. Many of Dio's classics are mid temo. There's more of a dark, doomy feeling this time. Imagine a combo of Sab's "Mob Rules" and Dio's last "Killing the Dragon".

Regardless, this record contains some immediate & undeniably ensnaring hooks! The choruses are very melodic and "sing-along-ish".
The hooks in "Man Who Would Be King" and the title track are unreal!

If you like Dio, you're sure to love the record. In my view, 8 of the songs are GREAT, with only two true "fillers" (and most Dio records have many fillers).

Haven't heard it, but as this thread shows very well, i've heard mixed things. I'll pick it up eventually, but not now....i just spent the last of my money on the new Megadeth album. I did have high hopes for it, because first off, it's the follow up to Killing The Dragon, which IMO, is one of Dio's best, and B.): It's doomy like another one of my favorite Dio albums, Strange Highways. So much for high hopes.

I agree 100%!!!

I posted about this album few weeks ago, I was loving it then and it's only gotten better since. If you are a DIO fan and you don't check out this album now at some point in the future you will be kicking yourself in the ass.

If you are not a DIO fan to begin with then forget about it, it's not gonna change your mind.

Dunno...Wouldn't go that far...

This album is really hard to get used to...
It really didn't make me spin it all day long, as the new Saxon and Jag Panzer did... But it's okay.
I still find Magica waaay better than Master.

Well, most of the albums after Dream Evil do, but the 4 classics don't really...

My dad is a die-hard Sabbath and Dio fan. So I had to miserably listen to it, thinking it was gonna be like Magica or Killing the Dragon. ITs very fucking boring. It's slow as hell, and put me to sleep. Yes, his singing is great as usual, but the music is just to damn boring.

Well, it's all in the ears, I guess.

In my view, NOTHING is as boring as "Magica" and "Wolves". Making matters worse for "Magica" are the dreadful robot synthesized voice-overs. Cheese to the tenth factor.

But I guess I'm a tad different....I really LIKE "Angry Machines"!

My favorite Dio albums are Angry Machines and Strange Highways.
