what country do you come from?

Any possible claim of 'w00t' has been officially nullified by use of the word 'drubbing' and the fact that the second picture portrays someone who looks like he could be nerdier than *me*.

Jeff

OK, you got me on the word "drubbing".
But how dare you insult the great Steve Menzies! The grand final was his last match, and his 349th match to be exact (a NRL all-time record), and he scored the second-last try of the match. A fairytale ending to a long and illustrious career, in other words.

Wait, you don't even know what a try is. Nor the NRL.

I agree with Gav, some people take this ancestry thing way to literally. So many Italian/Irish Americans have never even been to their 'homeland', and would stick out like a sore thumb if they ever did venture there. Can't blame them, though, I'd be ashamed to be American, too! IT'S ALL JOKES!!!

As for me, I'm English because I was born in England. My mother is from Nottingham, and my father is from Glasgow. I easily have 10x more family in Glasgow than I do in England, my Dad has 5 brothers and 1 sister. Roughly estimating, I think I have somewhere in the region of 21 cousins in and around Glasgow. My Mum has a sister and brother, each with one son.

Still English, though, by default  I'm gonna move to Scotland if my band doesn't work out.

Gav, you're 21??

I am 21, how come?

Thing is, in Scotland you'd permenantly be tied with "local band" status cause no-one helps scottish bands get anywhere...

There's fuck all gigs for local support, magazines ignore you and there is so much jealously and backstabbing in scotish music scene it isn't even funny!

Sometimes a lot of truth is said in jest...America is and always has been the melting pot of the world, and thus we have vastly varied cultures. Yes, there are the backwoods hicks who support rampant consumerism while furthering their obesity stuffing their faces with McDonald's while driving their hideously fuel-inefficient vehicles etc. (simply because they're available), but then there are a WHOLE lot of intelligent, free-thinking people who nonetheless like it here and want to do their part to try to change the reputation. Don't mean to jump down you're throat on this one, but rather responding to the pretty vehement America hate I've occasionally seen on this forum in the past.

Well said...

It really irritates me when all Americans are generalized into one group. Certain states should be other countries since their people, laws, and governments are so vastly different from other states. Our country is strange in the way that different states operate. But then again, there are dumbass people in every state, and in every country of the world. Not saying that is anyone here, just sayin. :)

I've met plenty of dumb, close-minded, Americans. I also know a lot of smart, hard-working, passionate people. People who think for themselves and draw their own conclusions about what goes on in the world.

And oh! I have been to my ancestors homeland of Ireland. Fuckin' loved it! One generalization I can say, living in the NJ/NYC area, is that the people were so much more overwhelmingly warm in Ireland. Such nice people. They drive much better than folk in NJ do too!

If I ever had to move out of the country, it would be Ireland or Holland. Two of my favorite places that I've visited!

Rant over!

Gun nuts?
charltonheston1.jpg

Just kidding, dude :)

Hahaha...Yeah, figured that would be coming.

I'm actually going to be a gun owner very soon. Couple more weeks and I will have my permit. I plan on being a lawfully abiding owner to the fullest extent of the law.

Target shooting every other weekend doesn't sound so bad to me.

But, yes I suppose we do have our share of gun nuts. Fortunately/Unfortunately (to some gun "nuts"), NJ has a pretty extensive waiting period while they perform mental health checks and await reference letters from non-family members.

This is for a wholllllllllle separate thread though. :)

Wait, it already happened in another thread, my bad!! Haha. :Saint:

Good call Joe, I'm home on break from school right now, and my Dad just got a pretty diesel air rifle (it kicks as hard as the .22's I've shot) that we're gonna take out back and do some target shooting with; very relaxing!

And here's one of the worst examples of America hate, especially because it comes from one of my favorite bands of all time, Pain of Salvation. All their albums have been concept albums, but the earlier ones dealt with subjects like the trauma of war on a family, the damage done to developing countries by arms manufacturing and wars (but all vague enough to not be America-hating, more anti-corporate), and the complexities of relationships and romance - and now this "concept album" of spewing anti-STEREOTYPICAL American garbage like some whiny high school hippie activist wannabe. Such a letdown, especially because musically there are still some great moments on that album (their newest, btw).

TOTALLY AGREE MATE. Fucking definitely.

It's a real shame, to be honest.

Yeah, those things are no joke dude. Some cats go hunting with em. I'm not into hunting though.

Which album is this? I'd be interested to see what you are talking about.

Stupid me, just clicked the link.

Yeah, those lyrics are quite retarded. I want to puke in my mouth a little bit. I don't mind political lyrics. I wouldn't write them myself, since I think politics and music don't go well together...in a direct sense that is. Those lyrics are as direct as you get!
