What do you think about this mix(Asking Alexandria/TDWP ish)

Sounds cool but kinda scooped. Guitars and especially cymbals could benefit from some body/mids. Hope this helps :)

I didn't think they sounded all that scooped honestly, i have the mids on pod farm at about 60-70%.

i did cut some 500 hz when i was EQing the guitars.
but i felt that for some reason that freq sounded really bad.

i think i cut that at around -5 Db.
do you think i should not cut that as much?

there is also a 4K cut at -6.1 db

thats just the EQ's i know off the top of my head.

the band just wants the tracks mixed pretty close to AA first album.
so im kind of trying to do that, but yet give it a little different feel.
 
Try leaving more 2-6khz (excluding 2.9khz) while rolling off the extreme highs ( 6+khz) and bring the guitars up a bit. Filter some of the kick's subs and if you wish bring it up a bit or at least it's highs.

its slate snare 11 blended with 12 under 11.
 
I'm hearing big improvements! some stuff is still a tad thin-sounding. I think bass should really be looked upon. and the kick is a bit to sub-ish for my taste, a bit more thump could really get this mix going. boost more 200hz on the snare! the clean vox could use a bit more brilliance and some lows could be cut aswell. then there's just the mastering chain magic :)
 
OMG, why can't I reach such punch on my guitars....:(:(

I tried the TS/Cali/threadplate kind of preset but it really sound fuzzy as hell...

Could you, if you have some time, explain me in details your settings? Oh, and about the PSP plugin, wich one is that?:worship:notworthy

how much do you normally boost your 200 hz on the snare?
because trust me i boosted that fuckers like 3 db lol.

i hate the autotune but that has nothing to do with the mix, lol. Just thought i'd chime in. the production is great tho!
 
man its honestly nothing special.
Like i just messed around with the settings for 20 mins.
its all in the EQ and the mix honestly
 
Sounds ok to me...If it's pumping it's pretty subtle, maybe just a tiny bit on the kick but not noticeable. The clean vox sound better, lol.
 
Yeah i took some of that autotune down because i just hate noticeable autotune. lol. i just need to get better at working on my mastering hah
 
Yea i haven't delved into that too much yet i usually just eq and slam it with a limiter. what's your master signal chain?
