What do you think of the new song?

TD

HAS INTEGRITY
I think it is alright. I think a lot of you are gonna proclaim it the greatest song ever because you are so hungry for the new album that your view might be a little tainted prior to listening. In other words, you liked this song before you heard it. I'm not saying it is bad, I've listened to it 100 times today, it is cool, but far from the best thing I've heard from the boys. Definitely different for Anthrax. Peace out.

It is fucking killer! I like it a lot. I wouldn't say it's my favorite Anthrax song, but it is fucking good.

I love the Riff and the Fucking growl!! Yea it is different, but thrax has always been different. I have listened to it about a hundred times to and have not got sick of it yet. Of courde there is more meaning to it then most songs

Well, I don't think it is that much different to what they did on Volume 8, (With a little "Random Acts" sound as well..) but that is not a bad thing...

Yes the growling is cool....! :D

It took a couple of listens to get into but now I like it, that riff is stuck in my head!

I think the song is great. It's not my fav Thrax song but it's still a great song IMO. True I might like it more considering the anticipation I've had waiting for something new from the guys but I still think I'd give it a thumbs up even if they just put out a new album recently. I played it for a few friends today and they both loved it and they aren't even big Anthrax fans, or metal fans for that matter.

I love the chorus and the acoustic part. Could have used a guitar solo or something more to accent the end of the song. Bush's voice sounds great as do Chuck's drums. But this isn't for critique, it's a tribute. It's not going to be a single nor do I think it's really indicative of the new album. Imagine if they'd released "Toast To The Extras" for some reason before Vol. 8. Not my favorite song ever but a fun tune. ANTHRAX is an album band, not a hit singles and filler band which is why they're the best.

I agree with Brent 100%, this is a song in the same vein as "Toast," "Bare," or "Pieces" in that is sort of a one off type thing. I wasn't saying I didn't like it, it is fitting song, I just wanted to get people grounded back to reality before I read another post proclaiming it the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm as big an Anthrax fan as all of you (probably more than you even can imagine, you should see my basement) I just happen to like a little objectivity..........

It's a sad, sad day in the Anthrax camp........

THANK YOU! You are fucking honest!! If you say anything that isn't 100% pro-anthrax on this board people act like the douches at the Sludge board! It doesn't make you any less of a fan if you don't like something. That was my point exactly - these "fans" liked before they heard it!!!!!

If you heard this song and didn't know it was Anthrax (i know this is hypothetical because Bush's voice gives it away) would you still like it?? i ask this because 1,000 other bands could have written this song.

I thought the song was good, but Bush's vocals sounded great. Better than anything he did on Vol. 8 (not his strongest album). I thought the message was just right. Where I live I'm surrounded by rednecks, and the general sentiment around here is we should just nuke 'em all. Standing up for what you believe in doesn't mean knocking the other guy down. The song to me felt like it hit just the right note. I would've liked to hear some of Rob's licks, though....

It's all good and fair. You can't love a band if you don't love and hate some of their songs - because that's what love is, taking the good with the bad with the just there stuff. If you love everything a band does you'd probably have to be in the teenie bopper set with NSync posters on your wall. Which is fine, it's just stupid fanatic.

well for me it was a bit strange, its one of the first anthrax songs ive heard that clicked staright away

i think its a breathe of fresh air,td has a point, probably subconciously u are telling yourself the songs gonna kick ass but i was still pleasently suprised by this song, killer riff, solid drumming growls from scott i think, hey isnt that what u expect from anthrax time and time again!!!!!!!!!!!

they just keep on delivering the goods,i was expecting something like catharsis to be honest with u all,boy was i wrong...

I've posted before on a different thread... I love that song, but there is too much Volume 8 style, which is my favourite album btw, but I hope there would be some fresh elements on WCFYA... and I really love the guitar sound, really killer.

It was pretty good. But not the best ever. ;) The only thing I thought was lacking from it was a guitar solo. I wanna hear Rob shred.

BTW, does Dimebag do any solos on the new album?

Yeah, I agree with Brent and Slaughter, I was hoping to get more of a taste of what Rob was going to bring to the band.

To TD's original point, it's kind of like Eddie Murphy says in Raw "When you're starving, and somebody throws you a cracker..."

It's not the best song they've ever released, but like I said before, it's the best song they've released in the past three years  It is however, a good song. A solid song. I've put it onto a CD and have been listening to the song over and over for two days straight now, and let's face it, how many songs could you really do that with. I'm hoping that there will be better songs on the new album, but when I've been starving this long for something new, "Refuse" does a great job of satisfying my appetite.
