Im just adding to my in home studio and i was gonna pick up some new gear but a little undecided so i thought i would ask
Radial Reamp box
(another)Firepod
50 foot snake 16 inputs for both pods (obviously i need another Pod:cool:)
5 Ddrum trigs (even tho i have 2 kicks and snare)
SLATE SAMPLES :Smug:

Thats all i can think of for now

I want it all but i obviously gotta start slowly and just get little by little

Yea, room treatment is necessary. You can make some great panels for relatively cheap. Search the forums there's a few plans floating around. Good luck with your studio.

I understand that, im not worried about panels, when the time comes i will get to "room treatment" for now im aiming to up the production of things
Room treatment is not that serious to me at this moment

Well as long as it gets done. I've been happy with my firepods. They've been a great learning tool and I've gotten some good results. I like your snake idea. Along with the slate samples I would pick up drumagog, aptrigga, or a free version of something like this for sample replacement. But yes, your list seems good so far. I wouldn't worry about buying plugins at the moment because plenty of great free ones can be found online. Have you thought about investing in any more mics? Budget in some quality XLR cables as well (better yet make your own.) Hopefully I've been helpful, if not, sorry. haha.

As far as my room i dont know where to start  fuckin corners everywhere
and i read some stuff but im still lost

I'll argue that if you aren't living somewhere where sonic treatment is practical or even an option, that having a good set of headphones can help you to overcome your room. If you have the money, I highly recommend AKG K701s.

That can help while mixing, however what about whilst tracking? I can imagine all kinds of 'nasties' popping up. I realize he's going to use triggers for drums, however what about overheads, etc? I think it could get pretty chaotic very quickly.

Obviously he'll want to treat the tracking room, or at least put in some bass traps and put up some baffles while tracking drums. My comments were about the mix room.
