I know it sounds like shit in metal, but i just want to find out how can you program drums to sound like that? any tips on samples? i guess it's some kind of hardware rhythm machine?

as hard as this is to imagine, i heard way worse blackmetal... but this still reinforces my loathing of the generes production ethics (raw != shit)

I'll second that. I've heard some real shite black metal stuff, and some rather nasty grindcore stuff (mostly from Europe!!)

Whatever drum stuff you use just dont bother with velocities by the sounds of it!

pretty sure these guys all used like an sr-16 or 18, whatever they're called.

i think this is a valid question because personally this sound brings back so many memories of my teen years.... i fucking love it and wouldn't mind getting one of those machines just for nostalgia. hahaaha

EDIT: this is basically akin to this STYLE of brutal death metal as well.... kind of like when indie rock got all lo-fi and everyone was on 4-track cassettes

I think it sounds like the same samples Mortician used in chainsaw dismemberment. It's a drum machine, but I don't know wich one.
I like how it sounds for this kind of music.

It's not a shit.

Respect.

Thanks for the replies. There's some bands that make this kind of drums sound good, but it wasn't the best example, but this might be better

or before mentioned Mortician have those kind of drums in almost all of their albums.

Anyways, i checked out youtube for SR-16 and SR-18 and it sounds pretty close. Any ideas how to achieve that sound without actually having the machine? I'll go googling for for sample packs, but if someone know about any, let me know, please. Thank you! :)

EDIT: a few seconds of googling and i stumbled upon this:

Alesis SR-16 Samples (free) :)

I have an SR-16 I've used pretty extensively (and still use) and that really doesn't sound like any of the samples in it. It's totally possible to get a similar sound from the machine though
