I'll have to agree with Ulvedal on Amon Amarth - Versus The World. It's damn good. Other than that, I bought all of the pre-Legion Marduk albums (Everything before Heaven Shall Burn...).

What is the new Amon AMarth comparable to? I liked Once Sent... a great deal, despite it being kind of repetitive, but The Crusher was a real bore to me. I don't want to waste $15 again

I just bought:

Immolation - Unholy Cult (amazing)
Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done [Digipack] (Better than the last In Flames)
Children of Bodom - Hatebreeder
Children of Bodom - Something Wild

And a friend gave me as a gift 2 more Cds

Nightwish - Angels Fall First (very good, even when I don't like them very much
Danzig - 777 I Luciferi (a great surprise, after that BlackAcidDevil shit!)

i just got into a new album "no reply" from daylight dies, a band from north carolina on relapse... i dont know if people have really heard of them much yet, i got the cd randomly from someone who works at a magazine and gets lots of promos...
they are very melodic and euro and depressing sounding
i highly recommend... you can hear some samples at their website www.daylight-dies.com

also i recently got damage done, but does anyone care how much i like it?

Well besides it´s great riffings, it´s not really compareable to any other AA-albums. It has the mighty feeling and the melodic riffing as in "Once Sent...", but the technical level has improved a lot.. They also have a new sound, which indeed fits them better. The vocals are more variating, instead of "The Crushers" high screams only. The growls dominates on this one. The composions are more detailed and professional executed along with the structure, and if it wasn´t for my love to "Once Sent..." - its definately their best album... They are also more professional according to the technical level in the music, and especially the drums sounds cool... You wont be disappointed with this one.. The way Amon Amarth awakes the slumbering viking in me, without any fancy keyboards and/or alternate instruments use as violin and stuff, fascinates me...

Orkrist - Reginae Mysterium (I was fairly disappointed; not quite what I was expecting, as the guitars were very rudimentarily easy utilizing extremely simple power chord progressions. The melody remained mostly in the keyboards while not turning it over to the flute, but guitar melody was virtually non-existent; they didn't even utilize full chords. Still, not too bad; listenable)

I totally agree... ;)
My expectations was to high for the cd to impress me..
