Im in search for an echo pedal or something to use on my solos!
Im using a 3ch rectifier + mesa 4x12 v30 and emg 81. Playing mostly thrash.
I cant come up with a good example on a great lead sound, but what I want is only to stand out a bit more. Maybe get a fuller sound also!

Any tips on a good pedal (its for rehearsal and live use)?

thx!

Yeah, I have an old Rocktron chorus laying around someplace..
Have somebody tried the BOSS DD-20? It seams kinda cool! With a cool loop ability also!

The way that I see it, though, is that since you're gonna be running the delay in the FX loop (cuz you wanna delay the distorted signal, not distort the delayed signal blecchhhhh), and since a decent delay pedal is around $100-150, you might as well get an inexpensive multi-fx rack processor like the TC-electronics G-sharp, and just toggle it on/off by turning the FX loop on/off (that is, if you can do that via footswitch on Dual Rectifiers)

many good suggestions! I think i will consider the Boss dd 3 bacause it is cheap and practical, maybe the dd 20. I dont think I will buy an effectrack due to too much stuff to carry at gigs and so on.. I dont play fancy solos nor need superb sound quality. And the dd3 or dd20 is well enough right? or will I regret wasting my money on something cheap?
electro harmonix deluxe memory man seams cool, will consider it!

Yeah, the DD3 kicks ass, and I'm sure the Memory Man does to, so no problem there. But greyskull, you run your Memory Man before the amp? I remember when I was young and foolish I tried that with a DD3 before my 5150 combo and...uggghhhh, not desirable.

My recipe for lead tone has always been a Boss delay and eq pedal in the effects loop. With the EQ I just boost the mids a little and maybe even cut the extreme high end a bit.

something i like to do for leads is to use a wah pedal that has a boost knob, and keep the toe pressed to the floor, even if i'm not using it for the wah effect. add some decent reverb, and you're fucking set.

i think it stems from liking van halen too much,
im just not a fan of how it sounds it the loop.
i like how grotty and lo fi the delay is in front of the amp.
that and i cant be arsed to wire it into the loop. lol

EVH definitely never put his delays in front of the amp.....if you know a specific song where he does that, please let me know

yeah! Im using Ts-9 in front..
Its lot of options, think I just have to try out all your suggestions!
But that 25 sec. loop function on the dd20 sure is attractive!
