Just thought we could use this thread to take a quick trip down memory lane to review the gigs we attended this year. I always like these because there are always ones I completely forgot about, plus I know I go to a lot less shows than most of you all.

No kidding! You went to a lot more shows than I did though most of them seem to be outside of my tastes. I almost went to that festival in Providence. I would have really liked to see Dawnbringer but once Attacker and Cauldron cancelled it didn’t seem worth it anymore.

I would have really liked to see Dawnbringer but once Attacker and Cauldron cancelled it didn’t seem worth it anymore.

Yeah I was hyped about those two as well and a little bit let down when they cancelled. I was also annoyed when Dawnbringer got pushed back an hour (which made it that much of a later night out) but it was at least kinda cool that they could go on at 11:58 (i.e. two minutes to midnight, a set time specified by Chris Black).

I also was really tempted to go out to those Helstar and Diamond Head shows in Connecticut. It's a trip I can make on a weekend, but not on a Sunday night. Oh well...

^ both of those rule. I was disappointed when Earthen Grave dropped from Denver Doom Fest as I'd been really looking forward to them. And I would love to see Victor Griffin's In-Graved (that album will rank highly for me at the end of the year) and Penance.

Earthen Grave has gotten consistently better each time I've seen them. Quite good live. And Penance was really good since we got a varied set of songs with Butch singing and songs with Goodbread singing.

Victor Griffin's In~Graved was phenomenal. I really enjoy the album (all but the last track), and live they were killer. Victor has amazing stage presence and is all over the stage with a lot of energy. He also got up with Earthen Grave and played Pentagram's Relentless, which also ruled. Their set was basically the entire album plus two covers (Teacher and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood) and a Place of Skulls song from the With Vision album. Would definitely go see again.
