What the crank is wrong with the internet?

My parents SBC DSL connection is dead.
My Earthlink DSL connection is nearly dead, only a small handful of sites are working (UM.com is not one of them).
I'm currently on my free dialup connection, and it seems to be working fine.

Anyone else having weird issues?
