what the fuck is so great about "The beatles" and "Bob Dylan"

The Beatles have influenced every single band after then, either directly or indirectly, from Sabbath to Suffocation, Backstreet Boys to Behemoth.
They were the first "band", rather then guys like elvis or groups like the Temptations. The Beatles essentially invented the pop music industry. They were the voice of a generation, and after their "boy band" phase, they were one of the founding fathers of the psychedelic generation, and Raga rock. They wrote some of the best and most influential songs of all time.

Bob Dylan also spoke for a generation during the 60's, when hippies were anti government, and pro open mind. His lyrics touched on subjects rarely spoken about. I doubt anyone today who does the sort of thing he did would make it in the MASSIVE corperate music industry today. Nevermore's lyrics (specifically POE) actually seem pretty influenced by Dylan (fight the establishment)

Brooks said it...
Some of you guys' way of viewing music is funny, you know that...There's more to music than complicated riffs and shredding solos. If you can only find value in a band because of those,I'm sorry for you.Their songs were only chords...duh.Like saying that every song ever written is "nothing special, only notes".For example Believe by Savatage is one my fave songs, and it's simple as hell,so what...download Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles for one of the most depressive songs ever.Oops,I forgot,no shredding, got to be crap.
btw Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is a Beatles song...if that means anything to you.

i mean i understand that later beatles and bob dylan have good lyrics, but what is so good about the music itself. Its just strumming a few chords, nothing special.
Exactly! The Beatles were like a blueprint for MTV pop music, though the beatles were better. They actually wrote their own songs AND(most importantly)played their own intruments. But I'm still the narrow minded mealt head that I am and I refuse to have respect for any music that isn't heavy metal and hard rock.

the beatles are horrible. especially their 'vocals.' i've heard more than my share of that crap. my younger sister is currently obsessed with them. they may have influenced bands that came after them, but guess what, contemporary music (for the most part) has evolved light years beyond their inanities. their being influential doesn't exempt them from honest judgment. i'm sorry, but i find no redeeming value in their music. period.

i don't care for dylan much either. if i want to listen to a 'songwriter' with decent lyrics and musical minimalism, i'll put leonard cohen on for a spin.

Because they think that we Ow to the Beatles the entire Rock Metal industry

Thing that couldn't be more wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Beatles sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ow nothing to them we ow to Black Sabbath & Judas Priest as I'm concerned

funny... because Ozzy has been quoted in years past that he wanted to be in a rock band so that he could be like the beatles... I don't like a lot of beatles stuff, but there are some really really good songs too... Helter Skelter is basically the first metal song ever hahahaha, I mean it made manson go looney so it must be heavy hahahaha, that and acid... and man those guys were flying high and playing great stuff

as far as dylan... I love him, if you don't well... fuck off

OZZY may have said that he wanted to be in a band so he could be like the Beatles, sure. But that only means that the Beatles inspired OZZY to get into the music industry, they didn't inspire OZZY to stsrt heavy metal. OZZY has also been quoted as saying that Sabbath played heavy metal because they were tired of all of the "fuckin' flower power shit". So you could say that OZZY loved the Beatles image but he hated their music. Which means that the Beatles in no way inspired heavy metal.

There'd be no Roger Waters like you know him if weren't for Dylan. Believe it or not, lyrically, Roger Waters is in a sense a lyrical-clone of Dylan considering the fact that rock n roll NEVER had lyrics of that kind of intensity before Dylan. Let's put it this way.... I'm sure Syd Barret listened to his share of Dylan....

:lol:yeah, and Syd Barret went insane:lol:

anyway, no. Roger writes lyrics on a level that are way beyond Dylan's feeble comprehension. sorry, but that's just my opinion. deal with it.
