A role model to mankind:
Another term I've grown REALLY tired of is "off the hook"!!!
First of all, what does it mean? Does it mean good, quite good, great, really great, superb, awesome, magnificent or what does it mean?
And second of all it sounds EXTREMELY STUPID!!!!!!!!!!
A friend of mine is a drum n' bass maniac and also listens to rap, so he has to say all that shit that is being said in those circles, so he says "Off the hook" all the time and now some of the other guys have started saying it as well!! He also says "Wicked" all the time and it's started getting annoying as well! "Dope" as well. I also dislike dope because not only does it sound stupid, but it's often used when I say something and then he says "dope", meaning "Wauv, that was some storie!".
May I also remind you that I'm Danish, so it's pretty stupid hearing all these English words all the time. He's also started replacing a whole bunch of Danish words with the English equivalents instead of just saying the Danish word, which means the same. There's no reason saying "I know", when you can say "Det ved jeg godt" in Danish. A lot of my other friends have also started doing it and seems it's something they say to be cool, as you don't really need to say "shaving" when you have the same word, "Barbere", in Danish.
It's not that I'm some conservative geek who can't tolerate affection from other languages, I actually voted for a left-wing party last time, and I'm also starting English study in September, so...!
