i mean, if the landlord is okay with it, send in a portion. i just know technically they don't have to care about a portion of the rent at all. so i'm just giving you the bottom line since i dont know anyone involved.
have you resigned the new lease? i'd just ask the landlord to resign one without grant on it, honestly... i mean, he sounds so shady.
anyway, call the landlord. if he likes you, and he cashes the checks that late, it shouldnt matter.

oh, that's too bad. well, either way... i'd say ask the landlord what he thinks is best, if he honestly really likes you.

well, the sticky wicket is that last month's rent check from Grant bounced, not because he's broke (he still had a job then) but because he was careless about moving his money back and forth. the landlord (and by landlord i REALLY mean "property manager") called him, super pissed, and told him to write a new check + $25 for the fee; Grant wrote a check WITHOUT the $25, just being lazy or cheap, I think, not trying to weasel out of it. the landlord called back even madder and told grant to include it on the next rent check (August's! this one!)

so you see, he already is down on Grant and knows Grant's the albatross; he doesn't think we're all bums.

okay, well... you still need to be honest with him if you can't pay the full rent. if you CAN pay the full rent, you just should. regardless of what grant is going to think. i mean, he's a flake. so if you're going to live with him, the truth IS you'll have to cover for him if he does that. you dont want to start to make the landlord hate you.
i still say ask the landlord if he'd rather wait a week, or if he wants you to cover for grant.
