What's the story behind...

The Azrael interview was... interesting.

To us, the Goat represents timeless inner strength, and outer mystery, and detachment from everyting around it. We feel aligned with the Goat in the respect that we do not associate with any society or group withen civilization and only feel connected to the Earth and the animalistic/primitive side of the human psyche.

They're some interesting individuals.

Hahahaha. No seriously, that review was hilarious. I've mentioned it on this forum before, but they say they're not tied to any corporate edifice or whatever and they make and release albums on a label. Then, they made it worse by replying, when the interviewer asked if they were going to make a DVD, "yes".

They also made it worse by saying they are not involved with any belief system, but say they support the Church of Satan, because if they didn't, they wouldn't have signed to Moribund Records. They're like the John Kerry of black metal!

I dont think theres anything wrong with christmas. Its a nice tradition. Yeah, its "the birthday of jesus", but who the fuck cares? Then its a good day to desecrate it by drinking a lot of booz.
No, what i really mean is that kids like it, people like it, ignore the origin of it. Besides, theres never enough holidays.

Haha what an emo bastard.

Yeah I agree, if he can't tell his kids and bring them up in his ideal society, then he is a poser Satanist.

If he was to force his own beliefs on his children he'd be as bad as any Christian. If he's letting the kids make up their own mind, that's great.
But burning a cross into your head is fucking stupid. Funny when you're 14, but not when you're an adult. If he goes bald he'll look utterly ridiculous.

Oh, and I celebrate Xmas, but I'm no fucking christian and I'm 100% certain (it's FACT people) that Jesus wasn't born on December the 25th, assuming he was ever actually born. So what? I love Xmas, it's not about religion, it's about getting steaming drunk, getting presents and having a nice pretty little tree with lights and stuff. :p

Wasn't Benton suppose to kill himself at 33?

meh, he's an idiot. probably the kind that will vote for bush

He was definitely a real person. Whether he was of actual significance is debatable, though.

Otherwise, I agree with the rest of that post. I celebrate Christmas because it's fun and you get together with your family, but I'm not Christian by belief (I am by birth, but that's bullshit).

Before this turns into tons of religious flaming, can we close this? Thanks.

Christians adopted December 25th as a celebration of Christ's birth, but its not so much of a ritual that we actually believe it was that exact date. I'd agree, much of the Christmas holiday is taken from pagan culture, but what do you expect when the Catholic church has a hand in anything?

so it's kind of like a little puppy dog you've just bought but you dont know its exact birthdate, so close enough is good enough? ahahaha. i like puppies, never knew jesus though. what were his favourite bands?

Well, think of it this way: if you didn't know your past or who you are, you'd still want your friends and other people to celebrate your birthday, right? It's not the exact date that matters, it's the thought that counts, right? (Ever heard that one before? Heh)

Any info on that? I'd seriously like to read up on it.

The whole of christianity is essentially heathen, not just christmas. Try reading "The Jesus Mysteries" by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy (or it might be Peter Freke and Timothy Gandy I never remember!). It's a great book, very interesting.

Jaar-Gilon, I believe Jesus' favourite band was Stryper. Aw shit, I just mentioned Stryper, now this thread will be closed! :erk:
